Your local plumber in Florida is a good one to help you celebrate Earth Day in the way that it’s best: by helping you help the environment…

Your Plumber Knows How Important Earth Day Is

We are plumbers, and we are one of the most misunderstood warriors defending our planet.  Sound pretentious?  It isn’t.  Scientists all over the world have stated that one of the biggest problems that we will face as a planet is water conservation.  And what better way to celebrate Earth Day, then to start to make a difference? In case you don’t know, according to WIKIPEDIA, Earth Day is:

an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network,[1] and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.[2]

In 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, the date proposed was March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. This day of nature’s equipoise was later sanctioned in a Proclamation signed by Secretary General U Thant at the United Nations. A month later a separate Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970. Nelson was later awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award in recognition of his work.

Happy Earth Day | Why Not Start Saving Water | (727) 475-1474

One of the most important things you can do to help our planet is start saving water. Installing a low flush toilet will save 200 gallons of water a year, and fixing your faucet or installing an aerator saves 50 gallons a year. Taking just those two numbers, and multiplying it by the number of people in Florida which is 19,317,568, makes a big difference. If everyone in Florida followed just these two tips, that would save a whopping 4,829,392,000 gallons of water a year!

Water Conservation and the 21st Century

Florida is in a drought right now, and will be for a while. The 21st Century holds a bit of concern, but there is also hope as well. We can help in our small way to make a better world. Follow water conservation procedures and you not only help the environment, you help your pocketbooks.
